Scenario-1: TABLE FILE AAA PRINT * WHERE XX EQ 'YY'; END When i use where conditions initially it does not pull the data.
Scenario-2: TABLE FILE AAA PRINT * ON TABLE HOLD AS BBB END TABLE FILE BBB PRINT * WHERE XX EQ 'YY'; END This works fine, because i am holding and then giving the sort condition for the hold file.
Can anyone help me in giving the reason why is this so?
I had created a flat file with the data recieved which was huge and also created Master file. There is only one file(Master) Now when i use this file to report since the data is from a flat file with huge records in it, sometimes it used to work for where conditions and sometime not. So i tried to hold the file and then use where conditions it worked always. I was just curious to know if any of you have faced this before.
ditto CHECK FILE mastername is a great command to see how long your master is, and make sure your inbound text file is the same length. Is your file specified as FIX, or COM, or COMT, or DFIX or... what type? Also, there's ... CHECK FILE mastername HOLD TABLE FILE HOLD PRINT * END Also if your inbound flat is from a sql db, and it has /AnV fields, you're in a world of hurt. You have to define them to fixed fields, get rid of the V, and read the fixed fieldnames, re-extracting the flat file from its source.
