If you are still running Excel 2003 and wonder how to read Excel 2007 or 2010 workbooks, there is a way to do it. You can update Excel 2003 using the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack available from at Microsoft’s download Web site:

(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx).

After you do the download, when you open a file wit a .xlsx extension (Excel 2007/2010 workbook), the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack performs the necessary conversion allowing Excel 2003 to read and open it.
