I'm sure many of you are running data warehouses, probably quite often running on top of Apache Tomcat in some way.
Of course, hardware, warehouse sizes and usage will differ, one data warehouse isn't another. But since we are talking about data warehouses on Tomcat already, wouldn't it be possible to find a set of tomcat settings that are beneficial to data warehouses? Perhaps even with some rough guidelines for their settings? Perhaps problems that can be caused by leaving them on their defaults?
For example, in a related thread I'm looking for the cause of long-running fexes restarting after one hour of processing, which apparently can be caused by some time-out setting somewhere. Knowing what to look for probably isn't just beneficial to me, but to many current and future users as well.
So, what are these settings and what are your recommendations? This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kerry,

This does not seem to have anything to do with data ware houses, but with time outs only. And there are a number of those to be found in basically every piece of software that runs on your system. You'll have to consider the browser, the webserver, the application server, webfocus client, webfocus server, the database connetcion, the data base engine, just to mention a few. Some of these products may even have several time out settings for several different situations.
It is not really easy to come up with recommendations. Once you step outside of the standards that have been defined, you will have to find out which setting to change. And sometimes that can be quite hard to do.

I started this thread as an attempt to make that information a bit easier to find.
