[SOLVED] Question on keys required or not?
I have a DB2 table that has no keys. Everytime I try to use this table my developer slows down drastically. Is this due to the no key? I don't want to save it as a focus table in order to create a key because this is a huge table.

Thank you.

If it's a huge table, why doesn't it have any keys? Not a very good database design, IMO.
That's basically going to cause a table scan for EVERY request against that table. No wonder things slow down.

And it not only depends on the size of the table but also on what you are doing with this table when you notice that devstudio is slowing down. In terms of DB2 it may very well be that the no-key strategy is a correct option for loading data, but when it comes to reporting off of it ...... you still do not need keys, but you'd better have some indexes in place.

It slows down to a halt when I just open the HTML Painter and then gives an error massage. Then it will allow me to work again for a little while.
