I have been working with WF for about 8 months and now I have been asked to create a Report Caster that uses Direct SQL by the use of a Synonym to enhance our performance time. However, I have never created a Synonym before and was looking for some help.

I've done some research about SQL Passthrus and Direct SQL on the forums. The company I work for has done stored procedures by the use of Synonyms. Is there any technical tools that I can find to help with this development or can anyone explain to me what I need to do?

A good starting point is to review the IBI documentation.

Technical Content Library

Please update your profile to let us know what version of WebFOCUS you are using.

Assuming WebFOCUS 8105 ( you can find similar documentation for your version in the same location - click on your version )

You will find the list of documents on the left, click on the "+" to expand the list. Each have a PDF at the end of the list.

At the top you can perform a search for topics - enter SQL synonym - several related topics will appear.
