How can i take a logo with a (.gif ending) and put it into a host report within a style sheet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Check out the use of IMAGE keyword within the HEADING type.

If the .GIF is already in an app directory on the server path, you only need to specify the image name (no extension required). You probably also will make use of SIZE and POSITION attributes for proper placement. Tony already specified where to look for more complete instructions.

You also may want to make a note that we experienced problems with using some of our GIF images when upgrading to 71x from 53x. Notice I said some, not all. Never figured that one out, but easy enough to convert them to JPG or SVG so we never dug into it.

That's what we are all talking about. Are you trying to define HOST as something different than what it is?

As has been said before, the location for an IMAGE file has to be one of the following -

Within the APP folders on the reporting server if the output format is PDF. This is because the PDF stream is completed on the RS before being sent back to the client.

A "real" URL that can be entered into a Web browser address bar to display the image within that browser. This is a requirement for HTML output because HTML imgs are located via a URL. Yes, I know that most people know that (or should do) but just in case someone doesn't ..... they know now (unless they don't learn from reading ).

For Excel output you have to be able to use the location for your image in a hyperlink, whether that be a URL or somewhere on a network share.

Think about how your output requires the image file and you might then be able to understand where the file needs to be, and you days of pondering over this life changing question will be a thing of the past

Please remember that this is not WebFocus it is Host Focus running on MVS. There are no app paths on the host.

If you are using stylesheets then the same basic rule applies.

Identify how your end application uses the address of the file and apply it!

E.g. Ask yourself - What application will be used to display the output? Then decide how you need to identify the path to the file.

Thanks Tony and Darin for your suggestions. The .gif must be in a PDS with a DDName of the gif.

It would be hard to understand from your profile that you were talking about FOCUS on MVS. if you're creating these using only FOCUS, I would be interested to know what output format your "host file" is and how you are delivering it for use. I would suppose if you want images in it, then it is being printed or delivered to a vewing utility like acrobat reader or Ghostview.

The right answer may have come sooner, but glad you found your answer.
