The best place to start would be by reading the WebFocus server online help or by downloading the Adapter administration manual from IBIs documentation site.
This gives all the information you require.
Alternatively pay your local IBI office for some consultancy.
There are separate adapters both for MS OLAP Services and for SQL Server. Whichever one you have a license for is the one you can use. They are covered completely, as JG mentions, in the adapter administration manual.
From my experience, you really need to know what you're doing to get this adapter to do what you need properly, and it seems like your knowledge/experience with it are pretty minimal. It was not a plug-in-and-away-we-go type adapter like many of them are. Lots to know both about the adapter and the metadata that is created with it. I would definitely get some help from your an SE in your local office.

Darin
