Has anyone had an issue with users bookmarking webfocus reports that contain user entry parameters? My problem is that if you click on the link to execute the webfocus program that takes you to a screen to enter the parms...everything works fine. However, if you bookmark the parameter entry screen the report does not execute. The only thing I can think of is that the report is loaded into a frame and not a new window.

Are you referring to book marked as in setting a browser book mark. I'd say the answer would be that book marking a entry frame doesn't have the executable behind it. Book marking the report link actually causes you to be able to execute the report and brings up the parameter screen. Of course I'm no expert in this area so maybe some one else has a better answer.

Yes, I'm referring to a browser bookmark. The url and html are identical between the bookmark and the actual report when you click on the link. That's what has me so confused.

Jennifer, good morning, can you please edit your profile signature to tell us the product you're using and your platform? Are your users running from a self-serve html launch page or from within MRE?
From a launch page that is outside of the MRE/java environment, the fex runs via a url that calls the webfocus engine (whichever one you're using) and passes the fexname and all the parms (if any) to the fex, one long URL string. so that's the bookmark as well.
Let me say that another way...the bookmark runs the program that generates the report; the bookmark does not refer to a static, pre-built page containing the report... (unless you have specifically set it up that way..which is another subject)

Jennifer,

The URL that your users are bookmarking will be something like

http://servername/ibi_apps/WFServlet
http://servername/cgi-bin/ibi_cgi/ibiweb.exe
http;//servername/cgi-bin/ibi_cgi/webapi.dll

yes?

When WF runs a report these are the URLs that are shown in the address input area of the browser window. As you have found they are incomplete as far as a bookmark goes, and to make them useful you would need to determine all the pieces of information that are required such as IBIF_ex, IBIAPP_app and any parameters.
These would normally be shown if the execution was actioned using a GET method but the URL you get is the result of a POST method. You cannot change this per se but you there are many things you can do to get around it.

Search through the forum for a post by "Alanb" where he covered differences etc. It was a few months ago now and Alan might even be kind enough to locate it Wink
