I have an access database that is data from audits done on pc's. The program dumps the data into one large table.
The columns I'm working with are the PC name and the Software installed. One PC has several different software packages installed.
I've written defines for the office packages DEFINE FILE EZAUDIT ACCESS/A3= IF EZAUDIT.EXE_DLL EQ 'msaccess.exe' THEN 'YES' ELSE 'NO'; EXCEL/A3= IF EZAUDIT.EXE_DLL DQ 'excel.exe' then 'YES' ELSE 'NO;
Doing this works but I get 19 rows of NO's and the one Yes
How can I get this to be just one row like below
PCNAME ACCESSS EXCEL pc1 yes no pc2 yes yes pc3 no no
DEFINE FILE CAR
SEDAN/I1= IF BODYTYPE EQ 'SEDAN' THEN 1 ELSE 0;
ROADSTER/I1= IF BODYTYPE EQ 'ROADSTER' THEN 1 ELSE 0;
COUPE/I1= IF BODYTYPE EQ 'COUPE' THEN 1 ELSE 0;
HARDTOP/I1 = IF BODYTYPE EQ 'HARDTOP' THEN 1 ELSE 0;
END
-RUN
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
COMPUTE SEDAN/A3 = IF SEDAN GE 1 THEN 'YES' ELSE 'NO';
COMPUTE ROADSTER/A3 = IF ROADSTER GE 1 THEN 'YES' ELSE 'NO';
COMPUTE COUPE/A3 = IF COUPE GE 1 THEN 'YES' ELSE 'NO';
COMPUTE HARDTOP/A3 = IF HARDTOP GE 1 THEN 'YES' ELSE 'NO';
BY CAR
END
-RUN

Ginny, as mickey says, the cool thing about focus is that you can sum alphabetic fields, which you can't do in a microsoft app or a lesser app SUM ACCESS EXCEL BY PC ought to work just fine using your initial set of definitions
In Focus since 1979///7706m/5 ;wintel 2008/64;OAM security; Oracle db, ///MRE/BID
