Copy Report Caster
In my current WebFocus environment we have two servers. One is our production server, the other is our development server. I have a need to clone our production Report Caster (with all of the jobs set up and running) on our development server. Is there a way to copy everything over, rather than manually setting up each job individually? Thanks in advance!

Mike,

First, please update your profile signature to indicate your product suite, release, and platforms so that we may better help you.

To answer your question, please check out the installation guide for your release and platform. There is a section on Report Caster migration. Use the rcmigrate script to unload your RC repository from prod to dev. The script is designed to help you migrate when you upgrade but there is no reason why you can't use it to do what you want.

Before you do that, if you are using MRE to secure your RC, migrate your prod basedir to dev. The instructions are in the same manual.

This process is very easy. Have fun.

Also, you need to be aware that standard IBI licensing does not allow you to run RC on another system (like a dev box) or even create another image of the installation on the same box without an additional software license.

We do not run RC in a Dev/Test environment for that same reason. We just run Dev/Test code accessing either Test or PROD WF servers from our one and only RC server which happens to be Production. Makes system configuration changes a little more scary!
