What we "hope" will occur next is that the report will generate and print immediately. Not go to HTML, XLS, PDF, etc.
I think you're going to have a little problem with this one. WF returns a report through a client to the browser session that requested it. If it's a PDF doc then it opens the reader, if it's Excel, then it opens in Excel, or just displays in the browser for HTML. Each of these have their own print mechanism, so the printing will have to be either a manual process or something that you have coded in Java, javascript, macros, etc.
As for part 2, you can execute print commands from the operating system, but they are relative to that specific box/server where WF resides. In other words, 1) the document must exist on the WF server and 2)it still would not be able to deliver it to the printer that is sitting in your cubilce unless you have some way of driectly accesing that printer from the WF server platform. There are a few options using the ReportCaster API that you could run the report and have it printed to a specifies network printer. This would invovle creating your own app using the API to schedule a "Run once" job to be distributed to a user-specified network address.
In other words, your feeling was probably correct. Good luck!
Regards,
Darin
