When one has to show in a same report both summary and details, there are basically 3 methods: 1. A list and then SUBTOTAL 2. Use Multi-Set requests (more than one verb) 3. The famous McGuyver technique.
I suppose that the first two are familiar to you, so here is an example of McGuyver, using your outline takne from Aravind's post:
-* File chirag1.fex
JOIN BLANK WITH BODYTYPE IN CAR TO BLANK IN FSEQ AS B_
-*
DEFINE FILE CAR
BLANK/A1 WITH BODYTYPE=' ';
XCAR/A16=IF COUNTER EQ 1 THEN ' ' ELSE CAR;
END
-*
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM RETAIL DEALER SALES
BY COUNTRY
BY XCAR NOPRINT
WHERE COUNTER LE 2
HEADING
"Summary and Detail"
ON TABLE NOTOTAL
ON TABLE SET PAGE-NUM NOLEAD
ON TABLE SET HTMLCSS ON
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
ENDSTYLE
END
If you need an example of the McGuyver file (called here FSEQ), search in the forum or just ask.This message has been edited. Last edited by: Danny-SRL,

I am stuck with detail headings. Let me explain again. My report contains columns headings for the summary and then there is detail report for each field in column1. the detail report contain its own column heading which would repeat on every loop.
this is how it goes. How should i print the detailcol headings with each record of summary. I wish if i could make drilldown report. but i need output on the same report like this. Please advise.
Account Balance summary and Transaction Details
Account No Balance Today Balance Yesterday
XXXX000001 £2,400.00 £100.00
Account Transactions Detail:-
Account No Txn Ref Txn Type Value Date Txn Value
XXXX000001 XXXXXXXX ddd 12/01/2009 £300.00
The "summary" line is very different from the "detail" lines and you want the column titles to appear within the report. Do you have page-breaks or is the report continuous?

Yes Daniel, you are right. This is how the report should look like. I was not able to put that on my post. I need the detail heading "Account Transactions Detail:-" and Column titles to appear for each account followed by the account detail.
