With few exceptions, this type of error in RC usually indicates a either 1)a problem in the code that is being executed, 2)improper use of the API, or 3)insufficient resource on the server at run time. I would recheck your code, how variables being used are populated, etc.

I realize this is an old thread but I just had this issue occur today. The same error message was generated in Report Caster version 7.6.9 even though I could execute the fex from within Developer Studio flawlessly.
The combined filename and file path name length was 74 characters long. I reduced the filename to 20 characters in length, left the file path the same, and then Report Caster ran without a whimper. Don't ask me what the limits are because I don't know. I'm just glad it worked.
