We have an "OLAP tabbed" report that we would like to use the "Contains" functionality to limit, for example, to customers that contain a "P" in their account number.

The way that our OLAP works now, you have to use the drop down to get a list. We would like to just type in rather than having a drop down. Is this possible?

As far as I know this is not possible. Please open a new feature case with CSS. In the interim, could you possibly handle this via a drill out from the report ?

You need to click on the equality operator until it shows a U rotated 90 degrees. This would be the "contains" operator.
