I've created a report within infoassist and change the filename with following changes within the Report1.fex. > >-SET &FileName='My_selfdefinedname_' ||&DMYY; // set a selfdefined filename and add the date > ON TABLE PCHOLD AS &FileName FORMAT EXL07 // use of the selfdefined filename >
That works well, but there are disadvantages: 1. I can't go on work on this report with infoassist, only with the text-editor. So I ask you, if there any other possibilities to change the filename in a better way, than with the .fex-change?
2. This don't work whith the ReportCaster(output: E-Mail, FTP). For the ReportCaster I've tried to use a distribution list, but that don't fulfil the requirement. So, I ask for an other solution.
Thank you
Bernd

While we wait to see if other members will reply please be aware that coding changes to an InfoAssist created report may not allow you to re-open within InfoAssist (depending on what you do). You may receive the message:
'By saving you will not be able to open this report with its original tool'
Can you create an HTML page that would prompt for the name of the file to be supplied and pass it into the report?
For Report Caster: After some searching in Focal Point the following might be of assistance.
I've just found a workaround, to add the current date to the filename of the e-mail-attachement:
Few steps are necessary within InfoAssist and Report Caster. Within InfoAssist: I've added a Detail field (DEFINE) like this Name: Current_Date Format: DMYY as content: HDATE ( HGETC ( 8 , 'HYYMDm' ) , 'DMYY' ) I've put this field at the first place in the "BY" box and set "visible" to "hide" (because this field is unnecessary for the report content)
Within Report Caster: I,ve checked within TASK/Report Proberties/ the checkbox "Burst Report" That's all. The value of field "Current_Date" has been added to filename automatically.
Thank you again for help and have a nice day
