Hey all,

First let me say I'm a newbie for sure; I've taken the Report Painter class & the HTML Composer class from IBI, but I'm stuck getting anything actually accomplished. I am using v. 8002, SQL Server 2008.

What I'm trying to achieve:
I have an existing SSRS report that accepts three parameters: Start Date, End Date, and Client Id list. The start & end date are just simple, free form parameters (for now, not sure about calendar controls in WF). The Client Id list is a drop down list I want to populate by calling another SQL stored procedure.

What I've done so far:
I'm able to get a WF report created as described above, it works fine. However, I've done this by using an INCLUDE file to add the ClientTable.fex to my report (this might be my problem). I then create an HTML page to test this out, but when I add a report and use 'Reference existing procedure', the very top of the page has the ClientTable.fex data showing with the actual report heading & data below that. I tried adding NOPRINT to the data in the ClientTable.fex, but that just leaves a blank space at the top of the page, above the header.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? What is the best/correct way to use a stored procedure to populate a drop down list that in turn will be used as a multi-select parameter for the actual report? Again, the client data I do not want displayed only shows when I run this in and HTML page.

It sounds like it should be simple to fix, but it is really difficult to debug a - mostly - visual problem. You should open a case and someone from CSS can take over your screen and visually show you how to do this. Remember, with CSS no problem is too big or small.

Thanks for the reply, dhagen. Unfortunately, I'm thinking what I really need is more training. I'm being asked to convert parameter driven reports AND come up with an ad hoc reporting solution. So far that seems to be beyond the scope of the classes I've taken, so I'm kind of guessing my way thru this and feeling rather lost.

Everything we went thru in class used the designer (which crashes a lot for me & I don't like anyway), but most of the information on the forums refer to the WF code, so I'm trying to figure that out as well, but having a hard time figuring out sometimes where the snippets of code should live.

Do you know of any good books, preferably developer-centric?
