I have created a template according to the documentation and placed the file in the same folder as my report. I kept getting the following error.

FOC3289 TEMPLATE FILE: Error opening file, I tried using the SET COMPOUND= OPEN CLOSE AND NOBREAK without success.

I'm using 7.1.4 MRE. Thanks

I'm not using MRE, but I run one through Report Caster and this works fine.

ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K TEMPLATE 'SSI_REPORTS' SHEETNUMBER 1

SSI_REPORTS is my template that I store in baseapp on the Reporting Server.

Seems to me that 'Error opening file' could be either not finding the template or permissions are bad.

Mike,

If I guess correctly, jgelona is right in the direction that you must go.

If your excel template (Web Archive - *.mht) file is held in the same location as your MRE report ([drive:]\ibi\apps\webfocusnn\basedir\[your domain dir]\app) then WF will not find it. It has to be held within one of the folders in your APP PATH which resides on your reporting server in [drive:]\ibi\apps\[some folder]. MRE folders are held on the Client server, which, in a two server setup (client - reporting) is not on the correct machine.

You can find out which folders are within your APP PATH by issuing APP SHOWPATH in a fex and looking at the output.

As for the bones within the focexec to create the output using the template, there are quite a few examples in the forum.

Good luck

T

If I understand, I need to have two files besides the fex procedure.

somefile.mht
somefile.xls

I thought I only needed the .mht file on the server. I will give this a try. Thanks

Yes, the way we were told to do it is save both copies (xls and mht) to the same location. Also make sure the file names are the same as well of which i believe you have referenced correctly. Try saving both files in the same location and see what happens.

Mike,

You need only the .mht file and it has to reside in a folder on the reporting server accessible via the APP PATH.

The file should be created in Excel and saved as a "Web Archive" type of file. It also requires a minimum of two worksheets within the workbook.

PM me if you would like to.

Thanks, everyone for the ideas and help. I'm working within the MRE enviroment and the admins are looking into providing me with a way to place the files within the path without giving me and the other MRE users access to the sever. I will keep everyone informed of the solution they come up with. Again thanks.

Well, I promised once my Admin provided a solution I would post it. Well here it is.

Has everyone stated my problem was the file needed to be within the app path or edapath. Well the admin decided to create a directory under the application location on the reporting server and provide all the MRE user access to this directory. This has soveld my problem. Thanks everyone for the quick responeses.
