We migrated from 7.7.03 to 8.1.05 in early March of last year. Since that time I have been looking for a source control that will work with App Studio 8.1.05.
Below are the ones the I was told works: Microsoft Visual SourceSafe ClearCase CVS Subversion ChangeMan by Serena Razor
I have tried out CVS, MVSS, and Subversion. None of those seem to work correctly.
Do you guys have any suggestions on what will work with App Studio 8.1.05? If you did get something to work, how did you get that to happen?
Thanks for the help. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Tamra,
We're living in a post-truth world, so I'd be very suspicious of the source of your information. Most people that have tried to integrate source control with WebFOCUS and App Studio have failed.

As far as I understood the integrated source control should work in version 8.2 and up. The one with thirdparty works with at least dev studion 8.1.x. Not sure about app studio.
Frans, which third-party Source Control software works with Dev Studio 8.1.05? Does it work with resources in all three areas - reporting server, web server and Repository?

The following functionality is not supported in WebFOCUS 8.2.01: - Accessibility - support limited to HTML and PDF formats. For additional information, see - Accessibility Compliance on page 9. - App Studio Source Control - Magnify - Open Portal Services

Franscis, we use PushOK with SVN. This works for the repository (except portals). For the other stuff we use svn directly on the reporting server / webserver.
It's by far not optimal, hopefully things will get better in 8.2.x. I've created a case for GIT support as well.
You work in Dev Studio? That is where you are using PushOK with SVN? We use App Studio because support for Dev Studio is going away from what we are hearing.
We are in need to a source control option for App Studio 8.1.05, but it does not appear there is one just as I thought.
What I've seen from 8.2 in demo's is that source control is on the server. So I guess in 8.2 you will get source control with app studio since there will be no dev studio on 8.2.
My name is Latha Gunashekaran and I am the Senior Product Manager for App Studio. I am excited to work with the customers on resolving some the concerns expressed and suggestions on App Studio. I will also work closely with our Focal Point Moderation team and Customer Support this year. I am aware that there are some concerns regarding the user experience with App Studio. Please continue to open cases so we can assist you further. I will be presenting via Webex on March 2nd on the App Studio Roadmap and Innovations which I encourage everyone to join and ask your questions and address your concerns (https://forums.informationbuilders.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7971057331/m/3047003586). We have new updates to App Studio coming in our upcoming release that I believe will prove to be valuable in enhancing the product.
Please see my response to the Source Control question: Source control will be available in 8201M release. Source Control is integrated with the WebFOCUS client, thus eliminating the need to install third party providers. In this release: 1) Support for Microsoft's Team Foundation Server is available. App Studio will provide the user interface to interact with the source control system. 2) The functionality is only available in the Domains development area.
Future Release Plan: 1) Support for GIT and Subversion source control systems will be next. 2) Support for other development areas like Web server.
I am working closely with the Product Manager for Source Control to support the UI integration from App Studio. Thank you and look forward to meeting some of you at the upcoming Information Builders Summit 2017 Conference.

We plan on having support for SVN and Git by year-end in an upcoming 82x release. The new Source Control development is done in WebFOCUS and functionality is exposed when developing from App Studio.

I can confirm that SVN and GIT are not supported for the latest release (8202M)
I really don't understand why IBI doesn't have any prio here. If we would have GIT or SVN they could also improve the Change management by just using a central version control system.
From what I've learned, TFS on-premise is your only option right now as of 8202M. There was whisperings of git and svn at some point. No exact version given though.
8.2.02M (production), 8.2.02M (test), Windows 10, all outputs.

Appears that 8201M includes support for Microsoft Team Foundation Services (TFS) Source Control. Does anyone have any experience of using it as a viable SC solution?

I pinged the product manager, SVN is currently under development and is expected to be supported by the end of Q2 of this year. Once that is complete then development will be started on GIT.
Thank you for using Focal Point!

We use TFS 2017/2018 on-premise here for our .NET projects, but haven't as of yet dabbled into using it with IBI yet. Once we have our production environment stabilized by moving to 8202M (hopefully), and getting a handful of priority projects accomplished, we plan to start trying it out to see how things go with it in our test environment. I honestly wish we went with GIT, but I'm but a humble developer who's wishes are passed over like breeze upon one's face...
