Could anybody tell me why the index option isn't coming up in the query even though this is a hold file with a .foc extension? I found one other thread about this but the person asking the question was ultimately told to just fix it in the code, I don't have access to code. Is there any way to do this in Info-Assist alone? I need to index fields before I join them. Thanks in advance. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Tamra,

I have found that the official documentation says it is possible. However it is extremely vague on how to get it to appear as it says when working with a .foc file it does just that, appears.
Here is a screenshot of the documentation:

Okay thanks Waz, I believe my supervision is already on it at this point.
jnc, yeah that is what it says but in the first picture I posted I am in a file that is FOCUS format yet there is no index field... Just confused. Have you gotten this to work in Info-Assist?
Thanks for the replies.

After you select the FOCUS file and the filename you are placed back on the canvas. Drag a field from list of fields in the Query panel to "INDEX" within the same Query panel.
See if this works for you.

After a bit of research I have found that this is a known issue in WebFOCUS 8.1x. The programming group is working on it but there is no definite timeframe of its completion at this time.
If you would like to be notified of when this is resolved may I suggest that you open a case on TechSupport . In your case please indicate that this is a known issue and your case will be attached to the project.
Let me know if you have further questions.
Thank you for participating in the Focal Point Forum.
My case worker from IBI notified me that this was already an ongoing project within the product division and will be fixed as of 8.2.xx (scheduled to release on September 30th, 2016).
8.2.02M (production), 8.2.02M (test), Windows 10, all outputs.
