If a WebFOCUS report is output to excel, when the user does 'save as' and tries to save the file, it comes up as Save as Type: Web Page (*.htm;*.html) instead of Excel Workbook.
Is there a setting in WebFOCUS, Excel, or Windows 7 that will change it to save as Excel Workbook so it doesn't have to be changed everytime?
The output of the HOLD AS EXL2K very probably is a file with the extension .xht - which stands for eXtended HTml - which is why a save as will default to something html like. I know of no way to get excel to change the default to something else when doing a save as.

Denise, I can confirm that this is normal (at least for us) behavior. We've always had to do 'Save as...' in Excel.
Here's a workaround (output file to filesystem location WebServer/Focus can see and redirect the user there to download via HTML form):
-* If your report is blank, funny things will happen
SET EMPTYREPORT = ON
-SET &PGMNAME = 'OUTPUT';
-SET &APPFILE = &PGMNAME||'.XLS';
APP FILEDEF &PGMNAME DISK LIBRARY/&APPFILE
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT
*
ON TABLE HOLD AS &PGMNAME FORMAT EXL2K
END
-SET &FILENAME = LOCASE(10,&PGMNAME,&PGMNAME);
-SET &LINK = 'http://server:8080/approot/library/'||&APPFILE;
-HTMLFORM BEGIN
<html> <head> <meta HTTP-EQUIV="REFRESH" content="0; url=&LINK"/> </head> <body> !IBI.FIL.REPORT; </body> </html>
