Hello: The more I read on dates, the more I get confused. I am trying to create a report that only includes records with dates in the previous month. The table has a field, CALL_DATE (USAGE=YYMD), that holds the date of incoming calls.
Since we will always run this report after the month end close, I want to look at TODAY and include any records that are a month older. For example, if I run the report today (2007/12/07), I want to pull all records from November 2007.
Any help would be great. I was working with &TODAY and AYM to get the year and month I wanted to look for, but I couldn't get the right commands to get CALL_DATE in that same format to do a WHERE CALL_DATE2 EQ &OUT. I was getting strange numbers in my attempts to reformat CALL-DATE.
Using Francis suggestion would be more efficient because is allows the selections to be passed to the RDBMS. Using a DEFINEd field in a WHERE does not allow for this and should be avoided when possible.
Regards,
Darin

We have in our EDASPROV.PRV file several && values defined. One is the &&PREVMONTH that is based upon the actual date, so I always can point to that value and use it.
My solution would therefor be
DEFINE FILE SOMETHING
DBMONTH/YYM=DB_DATE;
END
TABLE FILE SOMETHING
PRINT *
WHERE DBMONTH EQ '&&PREVMONTH';
END
I can do the same with &&ACTYEAR or &&PREVYEAR etc
