[SOLVED] Exporting Changes for a Portal
I am exporting some changes for a portal I created in 8105 with the RDF add-on templates. I created a few additional reports/charts for the portal in one environment. I am creating an export package for those changes to go to the upper environment. I have included in the export package the additional reports/charts, the html RDF template that I added the reports/charts to, and the portal itself.

My question is...do I really need to export the portal itself if all my changes really just involve the additional reports/charts and the html template itself?

Does the portal exist in the "upper" environment ?

If not, then I guess no.

But sometimes it can be useful to have a complete change package if something goes drastically wrong.

Waz - Yes, the portal exists in the upper environment...forgot to mention that.

I may just export the portal also, as you point out that it can be useful to have a complete change package if something goes wrong.

I would export everything (all dependencies) and when importing, just do an update/replace. That way anything that did exist in your "upper" environment has been updated to be fully compliant with how it was in the previous.

Thanks CoolGuy. So I did export everything, but forgot to do the update/replace option. I had "add new resources" checked. Thanks for your help.

No problem. Just remember to only choose update/replace if you are fine replacing existing content in your target environment.
