[SOLVED] Maintain - Retrieve Date Value from Textbox.

Hi,

I have a maintain screen called Add Project in which user can enter project details.
One such column in the table is Effective Date which is in format MDYY. Now when I am trying to assign the textbox value to the stack, it gives me error "(FOC03606) Incompatible types A0 and MDYY."

I am using below code to extract the value
Compute FieldName = "EffDateEditBox" ;
Compute EffDateValue = IWC.GetAppCGIValue (FieldName);

Is your application non-persistent? If not, then you do not need to use:
Compute EffDateValue = IWC.GetAppCGIValue (FieldName);
To get the value from the form. You can just put EffDateValue on your form and then that field will contain the value when the user enters it.

You can do that with stack and field values. If for some reason you need to use the code you have then try retrieving the value into a small alpha and then do the conversion:

Compute FieldName = "EffDateEditBox" ;
Compute tdate/a12= IWC.GetAppCGIValue (FieldName);
Compute EffDateValue = tdate;

Maintain can handle many format conversions without any problem, but an A0 to a date may be more than it can do.
