The closest that I have is :
-SET &DTE = DATETRAN('20170703', '(YYMD)', '(trwr)', 'EN', 50, 'A50');
-TYPE DTE: &DTE

Which gives ;
DTE: Monday 2017 July 03

Using this way will also give you the result with the year at the end
-SET &DTE = DATETRAN('20170703', '(MDYY)', '(wrtr)', 'EN', 60, 'A60');
-TYPE DTE: &DTE
