Experiencing slowness in loading initial Dashboard
Hello. We are running WF 8.0.0.8. We are developing our 1st Dashboard assignment and are experiencing extreme slowness in the intial display of the dashboard screen The screen has several charts and has some pre-filtering based on parameters (primarily date range). We have tested the individual queries that supply data to the charts and they run much faster. Is there something with the product itself that would cause siginificant lag time in the chart rendering vs. straight tabular queries? We have been in touch with IBI and we still haven't found a solution. Thanks.

Just some thoughts, considering that "We have tested the individual queries that supply data to the charts and they run much faster.", I'd initially look into three things 1) Use the Portal in WF8 instead of dashboard, 2)Check the APP PATHs , and 3) Use of HOLD files for the initial display for portals.

How many agents are used on the Reporting Server? If each request is using their own agent, the requests should run in "parallel" and render fairly quickly - are they against a relational database, and are the individual requests optimized? If the request is only using a single agent, then all the requests on the page are single threaded through a single agent. It would be highly unlikely your server is only spawning one agent, but it always something to consider. I have been places where the number of agents is small, and if there is a lot of usage on the system, then requests can queue up waiting for an agent.
