I need to suppress a data element from the body of the report and display the data element in the subfoot. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Kerry,
DEFINE FILE CAR
FYEAR/A10 = 'F-2011';
END
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
CAR
MODEL
DEALER_COST
BY FYEAR NOPRINT
BY COUNTRY
ON TABLE SUBFOOT
"Total for <FYEAR : <TOT.DEALER_COST"
END
Need to clarify data element for example referencing the Car file example: Model and dealer cost. Model contains Ford, GMC. Requirement is to report on the Model GMC, dealer costs and display Ford and dearler cost as a subfoot. Is this clear?

The requirement looks rather strange but I cannot debate what your business needs.
One question: there could be multiple records for both GMC and Ford. Displaying GMC stuff is not a problem as it's part of the detail data but, what would you do with Ford? If you have just one row one can take Ford's only record in a separate HOLD file, join to it and stick its fields in the report SUBFOOT. Not major problems there.
But, what if you have more than 1 record for Ford, what do you need to do with them in the SUBFOOT? put them all there in multiple lines?
There could be another option, which is to create your report as you'd normally do but displaying *all* information (including Ford's) with no subfoot. Just make sure that Ford goes to the very bottom of the report (DEFINE a sort field and give it a big number when dealing with Ford). Then, play with the styling portion so Ford records use different background, color, border, etc. therefore "looking" like a subfoot.
DEFINE a sort field and give it a big number when dealing with Ford
Consider "WHERE FIELD EQ 'FORD" THEN 1 ELSE 0;". That would put FORD in last place ... sorry FORD, no offense intended ... I meant at the end of the report and format as suggested.
