Hello,

I have a supplier code that looks like this..

SUPPLR
J&JATH

WHERE ( SUPPLR EQ 'J&JATH' );

However when I use it in a where clause it thinks its a paramater.

How do I handle this?

Thank you,

John C.

You will have to change the & to &|.

Is this supplied in a variable or hard coded ?

wee nuance...
the period after the escape character is not meant to be included in the code.
change & to &|
that pipe, |, is called an escape character.

Waz,

There are instances we would do both.

SUPPLR
J&JATH
THREEM

WHERE ( SUPPLR EQ &SUPPLR);

Something like this will also not work if J&JATH is selected without the user typing J&|JATH? Dynamic seems to be ok on our reports with all the Johnson and Johnson codes.

Yes this is a sticky one.

Once its in an amper variable, all should be OK.

Its getting the variable passed that will be the issue.

If its supplied, where is it coming from ?

Usually dynamic, this was just an ad hoc request that we had to do. I hope we don't see too many issues like this.

Question while this topic is still going, how about in a link that is supplied from the AS400 itself by building it.

I'll get the code soon for whats generating the link below:
