I'm having trouble finding information on how to effectively "squish" or simply get rid of displaying multiple return results.

For example if I'm writing a report to display the names and total number of people who own Hondas and Sally Sample has 2, I don't want to show her name 2x on the report. I just want a name to show one time in the report regardless of how many Hondas she owns and corresponding rows which are in the database.

Thanks so much for your help.
Appreciated,
Shawna

Sound like you want to switch from a detail report to a summary report.

If so, switch your use TABLE verbs accordingly.

Detail Report: PRINT or LIST TABLE commands.

Summary Report: SUM or COUNT TABLE commands.

Or, use ACROSS if you need the car info.

TABLE FILE ...
SUM VAUE
BY NAME
ACROSS CAR
END

Waz...

Hi Shawna,
What do you mean by:
quote:
... and corresponding rows which are in the database

Using the CAR file, one could say:
Show all CARs having SEDAN and display their number. You could do something like this:
-* File Shawna01.feX
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
COMPUTE NN/I3=NN + 1; NOPRINT
BY CAR
WHERE BODYTYPE EQ 'SEDAN';
ON TABLE SUBFOOT
"Number of Cars having SEDAN: <NN "
END
