What am I missing??? I am doing a simple report that includes 'ON TABLE SUBTOTAL' and 'ON TABLE COLUMN-TOTAL' . Why does the total in my column total include the subtotal amount, which is causing the column total quantity to be overstated.
for example: quantity1 100 quantity2 100 subtotal 200 column-total 400 ----> should be 300This message has been edited. Last edited by: <Kathryn Henning>,
Donald, Why do you have both SUBTOTAL and COLUMN-TOTAL? But even if you do, I suppose that WF wouldn't mind. See example:
DEFINE FILE CAR
CONTINENT/A6=IF COUNTRY EQ 'JAPAN' THEN 'ASIA' ELSE 'EUROPE';
END
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM SALES
BY CONTINENT
ON TABLE COLUMN-TOTAL
ON TABLE SUBTOTAL
END
And the output:
CONTINENT SALES
ASIA 78030
EUROPE 130390
TOTAL 208420

My deepest apologies.. I came to the party late so I made certain assumptions. The problem is that the subtotal is a field that was built into the query so of course when you try to do a column-total its going to include that field into the total qty. So the challenge now is doing a total and excluding that subtotal field that is built into the query.
If you have built your own SUBTOTAL in the query it's because there is a reason why, so I would also built my own TOTAL in the query and not use WF TOTAL option.
I think that it's the simplest way to do it.
