Vlad,
This is maybe something that you might want to talk to IB about initially?

Hi Vlad,
Have you got a chance to review the installation manuals? That would be a good place to start learning about various architectures available. To search for manuals, please visit our documentation website.
Thanks Tony for the input.
Cheers,

Hi Kerry,
I have read the manual, however I was interesting in other people opinions. The opinion should be based on recent implementation.

Each implementation has it's own characteristics so, the documentation can give you the best solution for your circumstances. From personal experience I can only suggest that you observe the KISS principle. Everything on one box being the easiest to manage and then progressively more difficult the more you add to the mix.
The distribution server sends the scheduled request to the WebFOCUS Reporting Server and receives the output to distribute. Transferring the data to be distributed is faster over memory vs. communications hardware so installing the distribution server on the same platform as the WebFOCUS Reporting Server is a performance consideration. If the WebFOCUS Reporting Server is on a different environmment than the WebFOCUS client, it does require extra effort to install the distribution server on the WebFOCUS Reporting Server.
