I have a report with one BY field(date) and one ACROSS field, I am counting no. of people by date. I want to show monthly and yearly sub-totals on my output. Any thoughts how to accomplish this? My sample code below:

TABLE FILE COURSE
SUM
CNT.REG_METHOD
BY
ADDDATE AS 'Reg Date'
ACROSS
REG_METHOD AS 'Reg Method'
ON TABLE SUBHEAD
"Registration Methods"
ON TABLE SET PAGE-NUM OFF
ON TABLE ROW-TOTAL AS 'TOTAL'
END

If your ADDDATE is an internal format date (e.g. DMYY MDYY or even HDMYYS etc.) then you could add a couple of defines to pull out the year and month components or add a couple of EDITs for the components if they're alpha format. Then add additional BYs for these with the NOPRINT option. If you use ON monthfield SUB-TOTAL then you should have your totals.
DEFINE FILE GGSALES
YEAR/YY = DATE;
MONTH/M = DATE;
END

TABLE FILE GGSALES
SUM DOLLARS
ACROSS REGION
BY YEAR NOPRINT
BY MONTH NOPRINT
BY DATE
WHERE DATE FROM '01011996' TO '31121997'
ON MONTH SUBTOTAL AS 'Total for Month <MONTH'
