Scheduling multi reports
I am running WebFocus 7.1 and I'm having problems scheduling a report. The fex file has the ability to run 1 to 4 different reports, we do this using '-TYPE WEBFOCUS CGIVAR IBIWF_mreports=INDEX'. When I schedule this report I only get the first report run as the report index is missing. Any suggestions on how to get all the reports?

I think this is a browser-based option, one that wouldn't have any meaning in Report Caster.

Also, Report Caster only distributes the last TABLE in a focexec.

You might have to combine the reports in a compound document.

You could also assign them as separate tasks in Report Caster.

You can split the fex up into 4 or 5 programs and schedule them as separate tasks. We would write one program for the data collection and store the data in a permanent folder like baseapp. That would be the 1st task in the RC job. Then we would have the 4 reports, each in a separate fex and scheduled in the RC job as separate tasks.

Another option is to make the data collection task a pre-processing task to the 1st report. If no data is found, you can kill the rest of the RC job by setting &&KILL_RPC to Y.

Splitting it out won't work for us as we have provided a schedule button on the forms and are allowing the users to schedule their own reports. Our workaround for now is to tell the user to schedule each report separately. I was just hoping that I could get it to behave the same way as it does on the dashboard.

Thanks everyone for your input.

What about making it a Compound Report - that should work in RC.

There is currently no way to schedule more than one report with output in RC. If you go the RC route as Francis suggests, there are many reports but a single output. The dashboard is a browser based interface, but there is nothing comparable in RC. It can only distribute a single output at a time. Take Francis' suggestion or keep doing it the way you are. We use both.
