Generally, static joins in the mfd are faster than dynamic joins. When dealing with Oracle tables, which is faster -- dynamic join, static join in mfd, or cluster join?

If the static join is fastest, and the tables and mfd's aready exist, what needs to be done other than editing the mfd?

By the times of your postings, you're either burning the midnight oil by keeping times akin to those of the Indian sub-continent or you're not in the San Francisco Bay area!!

I would offer other possibilities -

• Use XFOCUS for an upto 10 times speed diferrential over Oracle (in my experience) if you have the option e.g. Data Warehouse
• Think not just of speed but useablity for end users - which would enpower your end user report writers
• Trap the SQL generated from the differing methods in which are interested, compare and use the equivalent (if there is one) of DB2 Explain to get I/O costings etc.
