I have a scheduled job being sent thru email to a distribution list created outside of report caster (created thru outlook). It has 19 people on the list. When the job runs, caster's log says it is distributed to the list. However, only 17 out of 19 people get the email. Sometimes a user gets the email and other days he doesn't.
Following up on Leah's questions, is the distribution list set up so that everyone in the list gets the whole content of the report? If bursting is used (each user only gets their individual portion of the report) that would be a likely cause if an individual on the list has no data for their burst section. Do all users on the list exist within the same domain or are some on different domains? If some sort of filter/spam control is in place, everyone within the same domain should be handled equally (at least at the mail server level) but different domains would not necessarily be so. Also, individual filters or blockers could come into play based on content. In ANY case, you would see an error in the log if a recipient was invalid or otherwise could not be sent (e.g. mail host is unreachable)
Regards,
Darin

You don't say what release you are on. We are on 5.2.8 and occasionally have the same thing happen where some folks don't get their piece of the bursted report. Since we're about to upgrade I'm wondering if it still happens in new releases of WebFOCUS. We've never quite figured this out. Could the user's Outlook inbox be full? In our case we are sending the report to different domains. We do not see an error in the log file.

I'm interested in how this is done, I was asked in our company if this could be done (bursting on an outlook mail list) I thought it was not possible. We also would like to so the send mails in the outlook send items, since this is logged into our CRM system. Until now I also did not see how to do this.

Have them check their 'junk e-mail folder'. I don't know why, but we have a similar issue (not the exact same though). Have them write an outlook rule, and or 'safe sender' in their junk email option. Hope it helps. Ira wf 5.37
We are using 7.1.6. We are not bursting information...just want to send the whole report to each user. Some are using blackberrys but the report does not show up on their desktop or blackberry. We do not feel a filter or anything is the cause. For now we have a workaround having the report sent to a user's email and then forwarding it to the distribution list. I have not had problems bursting to a distribution list created within report caster...just this outlook one. We are running some traces now for NY to see if they see anything in the trace files. So far it is a mystery.
Could this be a size issue? How big is the report? Check to make sure there is a subject and a message and that the from and reply address are valid email addresses. Make sure the recipients do not have filter set that could eliminate the email based on any of the above. I have sent reports to distribution lists through report caster and had only one problem from a receiptient that blocked the report because my from email did not contain a standard signature.

Karen, in our situation here we have a report that has a RC distribution list. The distribution type is email and the recipients all are using outlook. Well 15 of the 17 receive the email with the excel attachment ; however, 2 do not. The two who do not - do not have any outlook rules or blocked receipient in place - yet they do not get it sent directly to their inbox but rather to their junk mail. We are looking into this, but as of yet have no explanation. So it's a different (but similar) situation but you are not alone in the mystery.'
