How do I get rid of the External Tools toolbar, or at least have Dev Studio remember its position?

At the moment, every time I (re-)start Dev Studio I have to turn it off again. It's empty anyway (except for the big + sign), but it takes up valuable vertical space. I'd rather use that to have my edit-windows a bit higher while stacking them such that I can still access their title-bars.

I realise that many people probably work with maximised windows inside Dev Studio, but I don't find that convenient at all. You can't keep two files open next to each other that way, for starters, which is something I do a lot...

In 77 the plus is shown, but it is on the same veretical level as the other icons in the menu bar.
Don't know exactly if there is a difference between 76.11 and 77 in this particular thing, but in 77 you can switch it off by clicking 'View' and then uncheck 'Commands Toolbar'.

I have that menu option, and it works for the session, but the menu is back after a restart of Dev Studio :/

Weird. In my environment it is just the other way around. If I want the external toolbar (or the quick links for that matter) I have to open it explicitely every time I start DevStudio... It really seems that it does not save these settings... Or I just do not understand how to switch this on or off permanently.

Any odd behaviour in Dev Studio can usually be attributed to the version of Java on your PC. One tiny version different than the required one can cause upset stomach.

From searching the docs (how do people find anything in there?!?) it would appear that there is no required version of Java. However, WebFOCUS 7.6.11 does ship with Java SDK 1.6.0_03, which through automatic updates got "upgraded" to 1.6.0_24.

I suppose an application could be depending on bugs that got fixed, but is a different patch-level really enough to cause differences in behaviour of the application in question? Is Dev Studio even written in Java? It doesn't look like a typical Java application...
