QUESTION:

TABLE FILE PAYCODEDETAIL
SUM
ADJAMOUNT
COMPUTE DIFF/D9=IF SPECIALTY NE LAST SPECIALTY THEN ADJAMOUNT ELSE ADJAMOUNT - LAST ADJAMOUNT;
-*COMPUTE PERCT/D9.2=IF SPECIALTY NE LAST SPECIALTY THEN ADJAMOUNT ELSE ((ADJAMOUNT - LAST ADJAMOUNT)/ LAST ADJAMOUNT)*100;
BY LOWEST SPECIALTY
BY PERIOD
ON TABLE HOLD AS PAYCDVARHL FORMAT ALPHA
END
-RUN

TABLE FILE PAYCDVARHL
SUM
PAYCDVARHL.PAYCDVAR.ADJAMOUNT AS 'Amt'
PAYCDVARHL.PAYCDVAR.DIFF AS 'Delta'
-* PAYCDVARHL.PAYCDVAR.PERCT/D9.2% AS 'Percentage'
BY LOWEST PAYCDVARHL.PAYCDVAR.SPECIALTY
ACROSS LOWEST PAYCDVARHL.PAYCDVAR.PERIOD
ON TABLE SET PAGE-NUM NOLEAD
ON TABLE NOTOTAL
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT HTML
ON TABLE SET HTMLCSS ON
END

If I run this, as such, my report is fine. In the FIRST month the deltas are the same as the Amts...that's understandable.

Subsequent months are indeed showing the deltas from the prior months!!!!

If I uncomment the PERCT COMPUTE something odd happens.

Suddenly all the data for the **first** PERIOD - Period1 (Columns: Amt, Delta and Perct) disappear EXCEPT for the second to last SPECIALTY!

Subsequent Periods (Period2 - Period12) appear fine and in fact are calculating correctly, including PERIOD2 which apparently is using the data from PERIOD1 that is not printing!!!!

WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON!!!

NOTE: If I comment out: PERCT, the data comes back for PERIOD1....Amt and Delta.

Hmmm...wonder if it a DIV/0 thing or something like that....I'll play with the formula and see if that resolves it but if anyone sees something else let me know...will update this post if I figure it out!

the AMOUNT field, in the master file is: Actual = D8, usage = D20.2...which is what every similar column is throughout all our master files. I see no nulls in there either.Frowner

Perhaps something like this:
 COMPUTE PERCT/D9.2 MISSING ON =
IF SPECIALTY NE LAST SPECIALTY THEN MISSING
ELSE IF (LAST ADJAMOUNT EQ 0) THEN MISSING
ELSE ((ADJAMOUNT - LAST ADJAMOUNT)/(LAST ADJAMOUNT))*100;
