Yes, but how much depends on what collection type you use. We are currently using Query and Froms and are not monitoring data sources without Resource Governor. The overhead is very light and we collect enough information to keep management happy. We are currently using FOCUS repositories but will convert to XFOCUS in the near future.

In Focus since 1993. WebFOCUS 7.7.03 Win 2003

Yes if the overhead you are talking about is your cash because it needs a separate licence key!

Joking aside I would probably guess you will pay a very small performance hit for better statistics which will enable you to improve performance.

Prarie,

have you completed your conversion to XFOCUS for RM? If so, does it work?

My Admin says there was problems with the Active Directories going to XFOCUS...So they remain FOCUS...but all the archives are XFOCUS.

He gave me a better explanation

All archive files are XFOCUS files but the active collection is still FOCUS WebFOCUS 7.61 does not support XFOCUS for collecting data.

Reporting is done on XFOCUS monthly partitioned files with the current days information gathered from live FOCUS tables

Thanx Prarie,

do you know if that's solved in 7.6.4 or later releases?

I call this Resource Annihilator. We turned ours on and got some drop outs on caster jobs and have switched it off.

Gives good stats but be careful on the resource front esp with caster jobs.
