After creating a new masterfile, do you have to restart the Webfocus server? When is the masterfile read?

Yes, I'm running an old version, 436.

No, you do not have to restart the reporting server. The masterfile is read when you issue a JOIN or TABLE command (and in some cases when you run SQL without specifying the SQL engine). The master must be located in an application folder in the APPPATH.

Thanks!
I created a quick report on the table, and got it to not complain about errors in the masterfile, but even without a where clause it always returns nothing and there is data in the table.

if i use ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXCEL
it pretends to work and returns an excel with no data.

if i use ON TABLE SET STYLE *
ENDSTYLE

it gives this error;

(FOC205) THE DESCRIPTION CANNOT BE FOUND FOR FILE NAMED: F554851

I know the masterfile is being read because if I put in a typo, it complains about it. So what else can be making it think the description is not found?

I guess its because the master file must exist on both the windows side and as400 side where the iway server resides. I uploaded the master to the as400 side and now its complaining about the access file. So I think that means I need to upload the acx to the as400 but I'm not sure where.

Now the error is
(FOC1351) ACCESS FILE NOT FOUND : F554851/F554851

Access file goes to the same place, but is the set up for the data source, as the access has this information in it.

The setup for this data source may well be quite different, you will probably need to review this.
