Is there a way to code a master file to use SQL? If so, is there any examples I can follow?
Thanks in advance!

Are you wanting to code SQL instead of FOCUS? You can. There's a technique called SQL Passthru allows you to code a SQL request hold the output then use FOCUS to format the report. Check you manual, do a search here or on tech support for SQL Passthru. If you don't find anything let me know and I'll post an example.

Hi Jeff,

Try the iWay SQL Reference 5.2.0 (DN3501035.1002) manual.

Hope this helps.

I'm not a system admin person, but what kind of SQL files. WebFOCUS has the capability of 'generating' the MFD's for you. Don't have the specifics in my head.

What I am trying to do, in Dev Studio, is call a master file from the Resource Layout tool in a dynamic list box. I am familiar with creating a passthru query in a report:

SET SQLENGINE = SQLORA
SQL SQLORA
SELECT SOMETHING FROM SOMETHING;
TABLE FILE SQLOUT
PRINT *
ON TABLE HOLD AS AFILE
END
Then styling

But how is it coded for a master file? I've searched the board and user guides but, I haven't found anything on point.
Thanks again,

Jeff
