I have a stored procedure that creates a DB2 temporary file, to be used only by the user who invoked the store procedure. In AS/400, I can use temporary file(like hold), multiple file members, or overrride data base file to archieve my goal. How can I handle it in WF?

You can use APP commands to save the metadata generated by HOLD statements, whether they're flat files or db tables.

APP HOLDDATA testfm
APP HOLDMETA testfm

This saves the data and metadata of the HOLD files into an APP directory.

Look for "Controlling the APP Environment" in the documentation for more information on APP commands.

The title of your posting and the posting itself seem to refer to different questions.

Francis,
You may be right about my subject line. I will change it later on.
Let me be very specifiy about what I want to do: I am calling an AS400 program in my .fex to create a temporary file, and use it later on in the .fex. The file is stored in DB2 QTEMP/myfile, which automatically disappeared at the end. We have this program widely used and it produces reliable results, so I don't want write my own codes in WF to generate simular result. How do I refer to this file? Since QTEMP is very specific to the AS400 job session that is running.
I read the topic on APP HOLDMETA, and it sounds like WF is generating the data rather than AS400.
Thanks.

If you're calling an "AS400 program" in your fex, how do you expect WF to generate metadata for the file generated by the program?

If these are DB2 tables, you should be able to issue a CREATE SYNONYM command in your fex. This gives the syntax; you'll need to specify the database.

Also look up APP HOLD and DROP SYNONYM.

Thank you Jack,

I will try your solution.

By the way, what do I need in my fex to get this work:
!CALL PGM(AMMLIBX/MB0008C)

Thanks.
