I know this is probably a dumb question, but I have looked everywhere and can't come up with the answer. And the Webfocus manuals are not indexed in a way that would allow me find what I am looking for with any ease whatsoever.

With that said, all I am trying to do is pass the Total & Subtotals (2 subtotals) to a hold file so that I can report on them.

I've searched the forum, but not come up with much.

So you want a report that only has the subtotals and totals. I think you need to do a separate request, never heard of passing them.

Such as
TABLE FILE XYZ
SUM CNT.D A B C
BY S
BY Z
ON TABLE COLUMN-TOTAL
ON S SUBTOTAL
END
TABLE FILE XYZ
SUM CNT.D A B C
BY Z
ON TABLE COLUM-TOTAL
END

Brian, use Multiple Verbs..

TABLE FILE CAR
SUM SALES AS CSALES BY COUNTRY
SUM SALES AS CARSALES BY COUNTRY BY CAR
SUM SALES BY COUNTRY BY CAR BY MODEL

END
...now your hold file has 3 new fields
with subtotals at the various levels
and you can pass those totalled values thru to some drilldown fex along with the granular values.
You can NOPRINT these total fields as well, if you just want to have them available for passing thru, but dont want to see them actually in your report.
Just make abs. sure that your sort phrases are consistent.
