Hi,

I am trying to create a report in Excel with the subheadings and I need to have the background color as black for these subheadings with the text color in white. But I am only getting the background color for the first column in my o/p excel report. I tried several options but couldn't get it.

This is how I am giving

$
TYPE=SUBHEAD,
LINE=1,
OBJECT=FIELD,
BACKCOLOR=black,
$
TYPE=SUBHEAD,
LINE=1,
OBJECT=FIELD,
COLOR=WHITE,
STYLE=BOLD,
$

I even tried defining it to a CLASS but I am still getting the same message.

Can some one help??

Thanks,
Dayakar

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT CAR MODEL BODYTYPE
BY COUNTRY
ON COUNTRY SUBHEAD
"THIS IS A TEST FOR "
"THIS IS JUNK"
ON TABLE SET ONLINE-FMT EXL2K
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
$
TYPE=SUBHEAD,
LINE=1,
BACKCOLOR=BLACK,
$
TYPE=SUBHEAD,
LINE=1,
COLOR=WHITE,
STYLE=BOLD,
$
END
I think it's the object=field killing you.

Thanks for your reply LEAH.

But I am not using the EXL2K directly. I have inclined headings in the report and to get those I need to use HTMLFORMTYPE=XLS.

I copied the code that I am using below. Please see if you can resolve it.

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT CAR MODEL BODYTYPE
BY COUNTRY
ON COUNTRY SUBHEAD
"THIS IS A TEST FOR "
"THIS IS JUNK"
ON TABLE HOLD AS REP001 FORMAT HTMTABLE
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
$
TYPE=SUBHEAD,
LINE=1,
BACKCOLOR=BLACK,
$
END
-RUN
SET HTMLFORMTYPE=XLS
-HTMLFORM BEGIN

!IBI.FIL.REP001;

-HTMLFORM END
-EXIT

Apriciate it.
Dayakar.

Dayakar,

To obtain the subhead background across all four columns in your example, you need to span it and then use headalign -
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT CAR MODEL BODYTYPE
BY COUNTRY
ON COUNTRY SUBHEAD
"THIS IS A TEST FOR "
"THIS IS JUNK"
ON TABLE HOLD AS REP001 FORMAT HTMTABLE
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=SUBHEAD, BACKCOLOR=BLACK, COLOR=WHITE,
COLSPAN=4, HEADALIGN=BODY, $
END
-RUN
SET HTMLFORMTYPE=XLS
-HTMLFORM BEGIN
!IBI.FIL.REP001;
-HTMLFORM END

Enjoy

Tony, Thank you very much, It worked fine. I tried COLSPAN before but I guess HEADALIGN=BODY is what made the difference I guess.

Tom, I tried with your option but it didn't work. Thanks for your reply.
