Our WF server had Oracle 8i client installed originally. We have a requirement to upgrade it to 10g. Our DBA is installing 10g client so we'll have both 8i and 10g client. Then we can do our test.

Is there a way to force the adapter to use the 10g client instead? Is there a configuration setting for this?

Thanks in advance.

ODBC is ODBC. You won't see any performance difference, but 10g does have a lot of features that make life good for a DBA....especially if he's going from 8i to 10g.

Now, he'll spend the better part of his day putting on patches. Bless his heart.

Take a look at this URL:

Another consideration... you may want to check to see if there are some Oracle system variables that need to be modified to toggle between the two versions. I would check the Oracle client documentation for those.

Thanks for the replies. It looks like we will need to remove all the adapters associated with Oracle 8i and re-create them all using the new Oracle 10g client.
