I am going to be bursting a large report out daily to over 1600 e-mail addresses (based on the burst value that is the store number) and I need to know if there is a way to import the list into the Address Book in Reportcaster. I have read a lot of topics and poured through the manual and cannot seem to find anything about importing something into the Address Book. If there is not a way to do this I will just have to spend a lot of time typing everything in (at the cost of what little sanity I have left). Obviously I would like to avoid doing this manually.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am fairly new to Reportcaster.

Thank you,

Mike

ohhh.
you don't even want to try.
but you can use a much cooler feature, its the 4th choice on the distribution tab: Dynamic Address.
There you reference a little fex that you have written. that fex MUST be on the APP PATH , (the only wrinkle i don't know a way around )

That fex will read your excel file, or a flat file you have exported from excel and parked somewhere on your server, and produce you a nice distribtion list. This is the coolest feature!
Here's an example of the fex:
SET ASNAMES = ON
TABLE FILE MYFILE
BY KERBEROSID AS VALUE BY emailaddress AS DEST
ON TABLE SET HOLDLIST PRINTONLY
ON TABLE PCHOLD
END
..that's it. this is very well explained in the ReportCaster admin manual...there's not much to it, and its wicked cool. Remember that the field names in the output xml file MUST be VALUE and DEST, and since you're new, i'll just remind that the dist list doesn't have to match the data exactly, just as long as it contains everyone in the report, its ok that the list contains many other names.
Just remember to click the BURST box in the caster schedule when you set it up.

Thank you Susannah. I will work on that this morning. I kind of remember seeing this in the manual but I must not have put it together that it was the solution that I was looking for.

I have not had a chance to test this yet since the report is still being approved by the client. Once I am told to run the burst thru Report Caster I will reply to this thread to let you all know how it worked.

Thank you.
