I have about 30 columns in my report that formats out to Excel. I set all the title heading font colors to light blue with boldface. Similier to the title below.

TYPE=TITLE, COLUMN=INVOICE.INVOICE.PO_ITEM_NUMBER,
STYLE=BOLD,
BACKCOLOR=rgb(173 216 230),
$

My problem is that the first half of the titles have these settings activated and the second half do not. There are no font colors or boldfacing applied to the second half of the titles.

What could be the problem?

I suppose you're using the Dev Studio GUI tool?

The code to style all column titles:

TYPE=TITLE, STYLE=BOLD, BACKCOLOR=rgb(173 216 230), $

You don't specify the column name, but, of course, Dev Studio probably does not generate this, instead it generates a styling declaration for each column.

When you state, "There are no font colors or boldfacing applied to the second half of the titles", do you mean, the second line of a column title, as in "Total,Sales" - the word "Sales" is not styled?

Is this for Excel 2000 format?

This example works on WF 5.3.2:
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
SALES AS 'Total,Sales'
BY COUNTRY AS 'Country'
ON TABLE SET PAGE NOLEAD
ON TABLE SET STYLESHEET *
TYPE=REPORT, GRID=OFF,
FONT='ARIAL', SIZE=8, $
TYPE=TITLE, STYLE=BOLD, BACKCOLOR=RGB(173 216 230), $
ENDSTYLE
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K
END

Every column, all 30, has the same font format applied with the same color and boldface attribute. As the tabular report is viewed the title of the first 15 columns are properly formatted but the titles for columns 16-30 have no formatting applied.

So if you can image a blue background to the title row, the blue highlight ends halfway through that row.

Home this helps.

Highly unlikely, but, do the second set of columns have the same names as the first set?

I just tried something in Dev Studio 5.3.4 and it worked.

In Source view, I removed all the individual declarations and added this:

TYPE=TITLE,
BACKCOLOR='BLUE',
STYLE=BOLD,
$

Then I returned to Report view and had no errors - which means the GUI painter could recognize the modified styling. Give it a try.

I tried this approach but the results were the same. Since the reports is comprised of only 2 tables I will attempt to rebuild it so see if the problem persist.

Thank you for trying.

Guillo,
note that excel can only replicate about 40 colors, not the full 16mill available to HTML.
If this interests you, there's an article here on the Point under the FocusOnDevelopers section called ' What is Indian Red, anyway?'

I finally rebuilt the code in MR making sure that I assigned the font colors to every heading. Upon running the program the formatting displayed correctly.

I'm not sure what caused the original formatting not to take. The suggestions, all good, did not seem to make a difference.

Thank you all.
