Hi,
I have a .fex that includes a HTMLFORM at the end. Is there any way to pass the parameters that were in the .fex to the called .htm?

Basically, we have issue retrieving all our data and don't want to have to re-read that data for every graph on a page. So what we are doing is creating a .htm. This .htm is sending the parameters to the main data grab .fex that saves all the data into foccache. That .fex then calls another .htm page (-HTMLFORM IBFS:/WFC/Repository/3M/3M_LIVE/SMC/open_smc.htm). This .htm page then runs all the graphs needed but I also need drilldowns from those graphs. So I need the orginal parameters for the drilldowns. Only other way I can think to do it is bring back all of the detail records and run the drilldowns off foccache but we've had timeout issues in the past when bringing back too much.

Or is there another way everybody is handling running multiple graphs off the same data without having to re-read data?

in the HTML page, if you use !IBI.AMP.VARNAME; this will use the variable that you set in your focexec.

Pay attention that I've been told by IBI that the « ! » may not be supported anymore in a future release for HTML document... will it be the case ?

So I don't know what will replace this capability, but it will have to be something...

We are using the HTML composer. Where would I put this code? In a hidden variable somehow?

MartinY,

That would be scary if IBI dropped support for !IBI.FIL and !IBI.AMP. I have a lot of code that uses these techniques and they can be very powerful. I can't imagine what the conversion time would be to rewrite all of that html... Especially if IBI continues to remove our ability to adjust HTML through text...

It seems that every time I hear about the future of the HTML composer, it just gets worse and worse.

VARNAME is the name of your column..

Example:
TABLE FILE CAR
BY CAR.COMP.CAR
ON TABLE HOLD AS HOLDDIV FORMAT ALPHA
END

-RUN
-HTMLFORM BEGIN
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN"  "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
<html lang="en">
<head>
<body>

-REPEAT HENDNUM &LINES TIMES
-READFILE HOLDDIV

Car: !IBI.AMP.CAR;<br/>

-HENDNUM
-ENDLOOP

</body>
</html>
-HTMLFORM END

Thank you for your help. That worked for me. I just had to put it into composer as a static hidden parameter and remember the semicolon before it worked.
