I would like to know if it matters if i install 714 developer studio to develop report on 762 client and server.

If you hand craft your code then you will be able to utilise the different feature available on the server but obviously not those in the later DS version. If you use the GUI extensively then you might be hampered.

I use 7.1.6 (see the signature Wink) against 7.6.4 servers without issue.

The possibility of upwards compatibility problems always exist. For instance we found that if you code:
SET FOCTRANSFORM = ON
(which might be the default),
then there is a good chance that the JOIN command will need an END in all cases.

I added the FOCTRANSFORM setting to our server profile for Business Views, and a minute later there was a problem, it clearly caused issues, not sure what they were yet. So beware before adding it to the server profile! Sweating
