Hi Everybody,

Is there a way to know whether the Report is still running or done running (just like the way to know if there are zero records in a report

IF &LINES EQ 0...
)?

Thanks.

Log in to the WebFOCUS Server Console (http://your-server:8121/cgiatt.exe) and then navigate to Workspace > Monitor > Connections to view a list of active agents. If there is an agent running with the User ID and Date/Time of the request, then the request is still running.

Not that way,Francis. From within a procedure. The purpose is.... if the the report is still running, I am going to show some dummy report, when the report is done running I am going to the show original report.

"From within a procedure" - I thought that was what you wanted, but I'm not sure what you mean.

"From within a procedure" - it's always running. If it's not running, then the procedure has completed.

Ok, I will be clearer. Just the way when there are no records in the report we show a "Blank colorful Report" saying "Sorry ! No records for this selection.", I want to show a "Colorful Report" saying "Please Wait ! This report is still running." while the users wait for the report output.

So, is there any code that tells us that the report is still running just the way there is a code(
 IF &LINES EQ 0
) to show us whether there are no records in the report ?

Thanks.

You already asked this question and this is what was suggested.

Search for "Please Wait" on this forum and you will find some other ideas.

Follow Francis' suggestion to search for "Please Wait".

Also, if you think about your question, if a report is still running then there is not possibly a way to include any code in the fex that would return a value to tell you such. If a value could be returned, then the code would never be running. Nothing can be returned anywhere until the fex has completed.

The browser, however, would know if a result set has been returned. See above suggestion.

Darin

Thanks, Darin.

Opening a new HTML window does not work for me. I will try something else. I will let you know if I find something.

This link shows you how to have an animated "Please Wait" message without opening a new window, but using an iFrame within the form page.
