I'm running a report, format HTML. I'm using the "ROTATING COLUMN TEXT TITLE" technique suggested at the Focal Point Summit 2007. For example:

DEFINE FILE MYFILE

MYFIELD/A130 = div STYLE="writing-mode:tb-rl;filter:flipv fliph;font-size:12px;"'|THEFIELD|'/div';

END

This technique works fine. However, the value of the defined field (MYFIELD) now includes all the formatting information. So when I call the value of that field to use for a drill down report.

.....

TYPE=DATA,ACROSSCOLUMN=EMPNUMBER,FOCEXEC=DETAILS (MYFIELD=MYFIELD),$ I get an incorrect value being passed to my drill down focexec.

Any suggestions?

You simply have to pass the field that you're "rotating":

DEFINE FILE GGSTORES
MYFIELD/A200 =
  '<div STYLE="writing-mode: tb-rl; filter: flipv fliph; font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; font-weight: normal; cursor: pointer;">'
  | STORE_NAME | '</div>';
END

TABLE FILE GGSTORES
PRINT
STORE_NAME NOPRINT
MYFIELD
BY STATE
ON TABLE SET HTMLCSS ON
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=REPORT, BORDER=1, BORDER-COLOR=SILVER, FONT='ARIAL', SIZE=8, $
TYPE=DATA, COLUMN=MYFIELD, FOCEXEC=TEST (STORE_NAME=STORE_NAME), $
END

BTW, it looks like this "flipping" thing can be simplified:

DEFINE FILE GGSTORES
MYFIELDTBRL/A200 =
  '<div style="writing-mode: tb-rl; cursor: pointer;">'
  | STORE_NAME | '</div>';
END

TABLE FILE GGSTORES
PRINT
STORE_NAME NOPRINT
MYFIELDTBRL AS 'STORE'
BY STATE
ON TABLE SET HTMLCSS ON
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=REPORT, BORDER=1, BORDER-COLOR=SILVER, FONT='ARIAL', SIZE=8, $
TYPE=DATA, COLUMN=MYFIELDTBRL, FOCEXEC=TEST (STORE_NAME=STORE_NAME), $
END

I have the cursor style in there because there's a drilldown hyperlink on that field.

A variation:
TABLE FILE GGSTORES
PRINT
STORE_NAME
BY STATE
ON TABLE HOLD AS H001 FORMAT HTMTABLE
ON TABLE SET PAGE NOLEAD
ON TABLE SET HTMLCSS ON
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=REPORT, GRID=OFF, $
TYPE=DATA, COLUMN=STORE_NAME, CLASS=RotateLink, FOCEXEC=TEST (STORE_NAME=STORE_NAME), $
END
-RUN

-HTMLFORM BEGIN
<HTML>
<HEAD>
<STYLE>
TABLE
  {
  border-collapse: collapse;
  }
TD
{ font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; border: 1px solid silver; }

.RotateLink
{ writing-mode: tb-rl; cursor: pointer; }
</STYLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
!IBI.FIL.H001;
</BODY>
</HTML>

Francis: This is my code

 DEFINE FILE GCSTORES
MYFIELDTBRL/A200 =
  '<div style="writing-mode: tb-rl; cursor: pointer;">'
  | STORE_NAME | '</div>';
CONTACTS/I9 = IF ADDRESS1 NE ' ' THEN 1 ELSE 0;
END
-RUN

TABLE FILE GCSTORES
SUM CONTACTS
ACROSS MYFIELDTBRL AS ' '

BY STORE_CODE
BY STATE

ON TABLE SET HTMLCSS ON
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=DATA, BORDER=1, BORDER-COLOR=SILVER, FONT='ARIAL', SIZE=8, $
TYPE=DATA, ACROSSCOLUMN=CONTACTS, FOCEXEC=DETAILS (STORE_NAME=STORE_NAME), $
END

I'm trying to capture the value of store_name at the points of intersection

with no luck.

If you use a column in a drill-down, it needs to be mentioned in the TABLE request, not just in the DEFINE. Try:

DEFINE FILE GCSTORES
MYFIELDTBRL/A200 =
  '<div style="writing-mode: tb-rl; cursor: pointer;">'
  | STORE_NAME | '</div>';
CONTACTS/I9 = IF ADDRESS1 NE ' ' THEN 1 ELSE 0;
END
-RUN

TABLE FILE GCSTORES
SUM CONTACTS
ACROSS STORE_NAME NOPRINT
ACROSS MYFIELDTBRL AS ' '

BY STORE_CODE
BY STATE

ON TABLE SET HTMLCSS ON
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=DATA, BORDER=1, BORDER-COLOR=SILVER, FONT='ARIAL', SIZE=8, $
TYPE=DATA, ACROSSCOLUMN=CONTACTS, FOCEXEC=DETAILS (STORE_NAME=STORE_NAME), $
END

I tried the procedure you suggested yesterday under "variation". It worked perfectly. Thanks.
