Hi All,
Would like to ask for a suggestion to : how to find out when is the last time a file get updated. With a FOCUS file we can use ? FILE filename . If a file is a Teradata file with .acx and .mas what command I should use ? Thank You in advance.

I'm not sure if anyone has asked this about Teradata.

Vinh, Teradata is a relational database, not a "file". In a DBMS, "System Tables" contain information about the user-created tables. You need to create synonyms (meta-data: .mas, .acx) of these system tables, one of which may contain the information you're looking for. This may be of help: Documentation of Teradata System Table

What exactly are you trying to determine?

a) When the .mas and/or .acx file were updated
-or-
b) When the underlying Teradata table referenced by your masterfile was updated.

For a), search the forum for APP QUERY for some good ideas as to how to get information about the files in your reporting environment.

For b) well, I'm sorry I cannot be of help. I don't have experience with Teradata so as Waz said, if you get an answer to this one please post it for future reference.

You should check with your Teradata DBAs. Production databases often maintain some kind of "last update" dates for key tables (if for no other reason because of restore/recovery requirements). The DBAs may be able to pass your application one or more key dates - via flat file(s), for example. Alternatively, if a database table contains transaction data, there should be some kind of transaction date column that you can use to determine the latest date in the table.
